Conquest History - July 24, 2006
Hit a deer the night of June 19 at 40 mph. Number one scourge of rural motorways. Knocked out a head lamp, demolished the header panel, bent the radiator support and hood. The infernal beast got up and ran away as if nothing had happened. The following day I was taking apart the head lamp to try to get the hood to close when my hand slipped. Cut a tendon in the right index finger, range of motion severely affected, chronic swelling, weakness, atrophy, whole hand affected indirectly, pain performing the simplest tasks, six weeks of therapy, eighty percent recovery projected within four months, frustration, anxiety, depression. If only we could bolt on aftermarket parts for these organic vessels.
Anyway, after two weeks I received replacement parts from David Springer at a reasonable price. It took three more weeks and three hundred dollars to get the body work done just in time for New York State inspection. Can't say I'm happy.
