Conquest History - May 8, 2005

Terrence completed the engine work, including timing chain replacement, balance shaft removal, jet valve elimination and head stud upgrade. He also corrected a couple of vacuum line misconfigurations which he discovered in the process.

The crank pulley fell apart, but Zack had a good one which he sold to me. Then the cylinder head turned out to be cracked and when Terrence replaced it on the block, the head blew. Fortunately he had a sound head prepared with ported intake manifold. The motor is now more responsive and powerful, with more consistent output, and it just feels a lot more solid. There are no unpleasant vibrations whatsoever; in fact, the car hums along better than ever.

Next month: the long awaited front suspension, Walbro fuel pump, turbo oil feed line, and possibly some brake system mods.
